Christmas Stars (Idle Words)#

Christmas Stars

Ever since we came to the States, my mom has been folding intricate little paper stars around the holidays. They're a traditional Polish ornament that doesn't seem to exist in the U.S. (although ominously Martha Stewart has taken an interest); for some reason even the paper strips you need aren't available in the right weight. But this year she has brought back a bunch of them with her from Poland and spent a busy autumn folding, hoping to earn a little extra money that way over Christmas, since her son is a no-good jobless layabout.

I've set up a little website gallery for the paper stars; they are kind of neat-looking and a nice thing to stick onto a stocking or christmas present. They can also double as artificial snow when suspended by strings from the ceiling.
